Hear Me Roar Women's Rights Pinback Button
Helen Reddy’s song, I Am Woman, was a number one hit in the 1970s, serving as an anthem for the women's liberation movement. Here's a snippet: "I am woman, hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore, and I know too much to go back and pretend, ‘cause I've heard it all before, and I've been down there on the floor, no one's ever gonna keep me down again." It is sad and shameful that we must continue to fight for equality all these years later. Feminism is a much maligned and misunderstood term, even by women, but we soldier on. And there's a new wave of intersectional feminists that widen their arms to includes all types of women in their activist hug. Hear us ROAR!
